Sustainable Practices

Sustainability is a way of life at Intelsius. It’s central to everything we do.

In 2009, we launched GreenTherm™, a broad-based initiative to produce innovative, eco-friendly packaging that functions as well as – and is similar in cost to – traditional options.

GreenFoam™, GreenTherm’s flagship product, is a bioplastic derived entirely from plant starches. Fully biodegradable and commercially compostable, it reduces global warming contributions by over 70% compared to EPS. Greenfoam is the first bioplastic to give equivalent or better thermal performance than EPS.

OrcaTherm™ is yet another GreenTherm reusable packaging solution. It uses Vacuum Insulated Panels (VIPs) to produce seven times the insulating effects of less eco-friendly materials such as Styrofoam (EPS), Extruded PolyStyrene (XPS) and Expanded Polyurethane (EPU).

In ATMOS, Intelsius has developed the first predictive modeling software system for the development and testing of temperature-compliant packaging systems. It not only saves clients time and money, but also reduces the environmental impact of the testing process.

Finally, our refurbishment program – which involves the preservation and reuse of previously used packaging – provides clients with the opportunity to cut costs in an eco-friendly way.

As a company, we are committed to sustainable practices including:

Recycling. All Intelsius facilities practice recycling and support customers with their packaging recycling.

  • Reducing. Through sustainable design, we reduce the amount of packaging required for each solution.
  • Reuse. We offer refurbishment programs to clients.
  • Recovery of energy. GreenFoam is an example of energy recovery. As with a biofuel, it releases no fossil fuel content or non-renewable CO2.

Our approach is about preparing for the future in an industry where the future is everything.
